At just 25, Ariana Grande already has a lot of awards on her belt, thanks to her chart-topping songs and albums that are a sure-fire hit among the audience.

But apart from her undeniable talent, the former Nickelodeon child star is also admirable for bravely supporting causes and lending a hand to those in need, creating a good example to her supporters that could create a ripple effect, proving just how powerful a celebrity status can be.

Supporting Causes

The hitmaker has been a proud LGBT ally, explaining that she grew up in a very accepting environment and that his older brother Frankie is out; Ariana performed for the Stand Up to Cancer telethon in support of the cause that was so dear to her after her grandfather lost his battle to cancer in 2014; and she also headlined the One Love Manchester fundraising concert that was organized to support the victims of the Manchester bombing in 2017 following her concert.

‘Heartbeat Bill’

In short, Ariana had always made a step to support what she believes in. Recently, the singer had yet again shown her generosity as she will be donating a portion of the proceeds of her Atlanta, Georgia concert held on June 8 to Planned Parenthood in the wake of the controversial anti-abortion laws being enacted in several US states.

According to reports, the multi-award-winning artist is giving away $250,000 to the organization in support of women’s right to reproductive health care.

Planned Parenthood was very grateful for the donation that came at a critical time. The group’s Action Fund president Leana Wen said that in support like this will they get the chance to continue to fight for reproductive health care access.

This came after Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp signed the “heartbeat bill” into law last month, which means that as soon as there is already a fetal heartbeat detectable, termination of pregnancy will be illegal. The National Health Service said that this can happen as early as six weeks into pregnancy, where a lot do not even know that they are pregnant.

Against the Bill

The law will be implemented in January but the passage had already received widespread objection, including from musicians Rihanna, Selena Gomez, Lady Gaga, and Halsey.

It had also been met with opposition from the film and entertainment industry. A big voice in the form of Ted Sarandos, Netflix chief content officer, had already aired his stance against the law, saying the company will rethink their investments in Georgia if the law’s implementation will push through.

Georgia isn’t the only state that signed the bill. Other states that adopted the bans are Louisiana, Ohio, Alabama, Kentucky, Missouri, Arkansas, Utah, and Mississippi. However, the Hollywood industry had the largest production presence in Georgia.
